INTRODUCTION

Workplace ethics are rules and procedures that should be carried out to maintain a professional company culture.  A good ethical culture enables the formation of better and more trusting relationships with all the stakeholders by providing a better service, in both the public and private sectors.

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

To enable employees to understand and apply ethical standards to their own work roles and to identify breaches of ethical standards in the workplace.

BY THE END OF THIS WORKSHOP, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO :

  1. Explain the core ethical values and standards which apply to the workplace.

  2. Outline ethical values and standards contained in legislation and codes which have relevance to the conduct of employees.

  3. Describe areas of ethical conflict in the workplace .

  4. Explain the importance of ethical values and standards in relation to the public sector. 

INTRODUCTION

Values reflect what is central to an organisation, and are important because they serve to guide the beliefs, attitudes and behavior of employees.  In an organisation, values keep employees motivated, focused and engaged, and guides the growth and development of the company to ensure the future they want to experience is created. Clarity about the values of an organisation can certainly help to create a strong foundation, providing a basis for decision-making and setting the entity up for success.

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

To create an understanding of the theory of transformation and organisational change in South Africa, as well as create an understanding of how a value system plays a crucial role in the transformation of an organisation and the country as a whole.  This course will also enable students to understand the role of trust in an organisation, as well as how a commitment to, and implementation of, a value system shape company attitudes and assist with organisational transformation.

BY THE END OF THIS COURSE, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO :

  1. Understand the importance of value systems within an organisation.

  2. Understand how proper value systems underpin transformation.

  3. Develop approaches and processes that establish the centrality of value systems in organisations.

  4. Explain concepts around Organisational Transformation and Change Management.

  5. Discuss a specific socio-psychological operating system.

  6. Provide input around 'organisational conversion'.

  7. Develop a transformation framework.

  8. Integrate the rational, emotional and change management processes.

  9. Demonstrate the relationship between a level of trust and the appropriation of resources in an organisation.

  10. Assist in building trust.

  11. Develop processes leading to the adoption of organisational values.
