Workplace ethics are rules and procedures that should be carried out to maintain a professional company culture.  A good ethical culture enables the formation of better and more trusting relationships with all the stakeholders by providing a better service, in both the public and private sectors.

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

To enable employees to understand and apply ethical standards to their own work roles and to identify breaches of ethical standards in the workplace.

BY THE END OF THIS WORKSHOP, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO :

  1. Explain the core ethical values and standards which apply to the workplace.

  2. Outline ethical values and standards contained in legislation and codes which have relevance to the conduct of employees.

  3. Describe areas of ethical conflict in the workplace .

  4. Explain the importance of ethical values and standards in relation to the public sector. 

INTRODUCTION

Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to understand and manage your emotions. The skills involved in emotional intelligence are self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.  Where knowledge and technical skill are essential entry level requirements for leadership positions, it is one’s ability to be emotionally competent and socially skilled that leads to real success.

To enable students to apply the knowledge, skill and insights of leading with Emotional Intelligence to the workplace.

  1. Explain the concept of emotional intelligence and understand how this impacts leadership.

  2. Understand the concept of self-awareness in relation to leading with emotional intelligence.

  3. Understand the concept of self-management in relation to leading with emotional intelligence.

  4. Understand the concept of social awareness in relation to leading with emotional intelligence.

  5. Apply techniques to respond to situations in an emotionally intelligent manner.
